Dr
Archie Lamb is a specialist eye surgeon who has been using lasers
since 1980.
Our Practice Manager Lisa Campbell, has a sound understanding of
all the ophthalmic and cosmetic procedures that Dr Lamb performs
and is assisted by Tonielle Wilson. Our nurses Kris Luszczek and

Cataract
surgery is the most common eye operation. Cataract surgery is a delicate
operation that involves manipulation of the tiny structures of the
eye.The lens inside the eye is removed because it is cloudy preventing
clear vision. A lens implant is inserted into the eye to replace the
cataract. This lens will help reduce the dependence on glasses following
surgery. |

Droopy
and baggy eyelids can make you look older, tired and can also impair
vision. Surgery to 'turn back the hands of time' will have you looking
younger. Using CO2 Laser, Dr Lamb removes excess skin and fat from
the upper and lower lids. When the lid level has dropped significantly
(ptosis), Dr Lamb will include repair of the weakened eyelid muscle.
Dr
Lamb's interest in eyelid surgery includes Asian double eyelid surgery
and he has studied this in Hong Kong, Hawaii and Korea. The use
of lasers for lid surgery minimises swelling and bruising.

Sagging
of the eyebrows is a common cause of baggy upper lids which is often
treated by lid surgery. This surgery does not address the eyebrow
problem and often leads to a less than satisfactory result. Elevation
of the brow can be preformed directly through the eyebrow, the mid
forehead or through the lid incision during eyelid surgery. The
brows can also be lifted by keyhole (endoscopic) surgery and the
incisions are, in this case, made behind the hairline. All these
procedures utilise the use of CO2 Laser in order to minimise swelling
and bruising.

Laser
skin resurfacing is now well established as an effective method
for removing and improving facial wrinkles, acne scarring and skin
blemishes. CO2 Laser has traditionally been used, although recovery
time can be prolonged with redness lasting several months. There
is also a significant risk of pigmentation problems and sometimes
scarring. Dr Lamb uses an Erbium Laser. The Erbium Laser, causes
minimal heat transfer to the skin reducing the length of the recovery
period to around ten days. Erbium laser peel, often called a weekend
peel is a milder treatment with a quicker recovery time of only
a few days.

| Microdermabrasion
revitalises the skin. It removes the outer layer of the skin by sucking
and at the same time abrading (exfoliating) it by using fine crystals.
The removal of the dead cell layer means moisturisers can be rapidly
absorbed. Microdermabrasion also treats active acne reducing oiliness,
scarring can improve. |

The Copper
Bromide Laser, produces yellow light which targets the red component
of blood. This blood is coagulated destroying the vessel. Facial vessels
and birthmarks respond very well to this treatment. Other areas are
less responsive, particularly the legs. |

|
|
|
There
are two alternative types of treatment to reduce wrinkles.
|
| 1. |
Dermal fillers are used to fill and improve facial lines,
lips and scars.
|
 |
| 2. |
Injections
of Botulin Toxin, (Botox or Dysport) relaxes the muscles that
cause dynamic wrinkles eg. frown lines, crow's feet and forehead
lines. Botox stops the muscles from contracting, leaving the
overlying skin smooth and unwrinkled. |

PCA
and Glycolic acid peels are also used to remove superficial dead
layers of skin improving skin texture.
